Announcing our new book:
"Rearing Spiritual Children to Serve the Savior", By Dr. Terry Coomer. Click Here

As a pastor for many years I have become greatly concerned and greatly burdened over the number of children who grow up not to serve the Saviour from Christian homes. There seems to be a real lack of practical, spiritual, biblical training going on in this apostate hour. I am also greatly concerned about the number of Christian families that are blowing apart and the tragedy that results from these lives. It is the desire of this ministry to help, encourage, and to provide training and biblical help to families to not lose their children and for parents to know what it means to be godly parents, husbands, and wives. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Contributions and support are appreciated to provide for the work of the ministry.

The Importance of Faithfully Going

In a recent conversation with some folks at our church we talked about the importance of being faithful to consistently go into our community and invite others to church and hear the gospel. Mark16:15, "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." I Corinthians 4:2 "Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful."

In the summer of 1993, my wife and oldest daughter were on our regularly scheduled church visitation on a Saturday morning. My daughter was 16 at the time. She had an afternoon paper route that she delivered for a few years and had saved enough money to pay her first year at Bible College. As my wife and daughter were going door to door, they stopped at the house of the Circulation Director of the local newspaper. They did not know this was his house. He had given my daughter her paper route.

They had about a ten minute pleasant conversation and gave Bob a tract and invited him to the services. He did not come the next Sunday. Fast forward to the year 2008, 15 years later! One Sunday evening Bob came to a service. He enjoyed the service and came to a few more. After one Sunday evening service he asked if we could talk. I had the opportunity to lead this man to the Lord. He was 78 years old.

Faithfulness in the House of God

Several years ago Kim and I started For The Love Of The Family because we were concerned about the number of children that were growing up in Christian homes and not going on to live for God. Depending on whose statistics you look at and how they were taken 60 to 80 percent of all children who grow up in an Independent-Fundamental Baptist Church do not go on to serve the Lord after the age of 18. A high percentage of Bible College graduates also do not go on to serve God after they graduate as well. The number of Christian marriages that end in divorce is around 50 percent. Folks that is utter failure. There are many reasons for this. The most important reason is the individual does not have a real, intimate, personal passionate relationship with God. Therefore, when the devil puts outside pressure on the person’s life by circumstances, people etc. the Christian has no power at the point of spiritual impact. They are not a submitted person, James 4:7 and they do not turn things over to God at the point of impact; therefore, they live the Christian life in their own power. Satan does this to control the mind, emotions, and will. The will of course is where we make our decisions. Therefore, the Christian makes decisions based on how they feel rather than what God says. Nothing but disaster happens from that type of decision making. Proverbs 13:13, “Whoso despiseth the word (does not give proper attention to) shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.”

The Christian life is all about making right choices. One of those choices is to find a good Bible teaching church and be faithful in my attendance. I understand that is becoming harder and harder to do. We receive many inquiries here at For The Love Of The Family from people concerned about their church.

How Do You Measure Your Christian Life?

Romans 6:12-19, Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not , that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

As a Pastor for many years, I have had the opportunity to observe many Christians in different situations. One of the grave errors that Christians make in their life, which will affect their home, marriage, and children, is the lack of being controlled by the Spirit of God. This error is a very serious problem for each of us and we do not give this near enough consideration in our lives.
